My fun and light and bright Swedish decor has taken a swift turn in some direction - a darker, exotic, more natural direction. It's really kind of a problem having an open mind and liking so many different styles, isn't it? Ah well... I guess that is what the word "eclectic" is for. Here is the living room in a stage I can leave it for now - at least until the other remodeling stuff is done with and I see how much money is left over for new couches and chairs, etc. Notice the blank canvases on the walls... they will get some paint smooshed around on them soon I hope. Unless I change my mind about the wall color - it could still happen. What color would YOU paint this room? Just curious.
Now to move on to the master bedroom. I *think* it's going to be purple. Let's hope I only have to paint it ONCE.

Your living room is beautiful! Will you come decorate mine??
i'm with Jodie. How did you learn to decorate? I have no idea what I'm doing. Your house is soooo pretty!
LOL! Thanks Jodie and Maggie :)
Maggie, your house looks like it would be a ton of fun decorating. What I have done, for the past oh, ten years... is buy every home decorating book and magazine that strikes my fancy. (Hubby not happy about this little fact.) And so I get a lot of ideas from there... and then I just move things around and around and around until it finally makes me smile. Then I know I'm done for a bit. And if it's missing something, I go shopping... LOL, agian, hubby not happy....
You have a beautiful cottage! Tons of character! I love what you have done so far too. Pretty "eye candy" Have fun!

i actually think i might have left it taupe because that seems like it would complement the fireplace best.
sometimes I think I should have left it well enough alone too, except the color was too dark and it depressed me. It's too much an army color. A lighter or different taupe might be a good idea. Somedays I think pumpkin would be good. Or Apple Green. I think maybe I should just get over it and just paint the whole thing purple. Or eggplant to be more specific.
Pam, "eggplant" would be awesome!
I was in a home a while ago that had the living room done in eggplant ~ a 1920's home ~ it was gorgeous! I'd go for it!
Hi Kim - thanks for stopping by! Was the house dark with the eggplant? I really don't want "dark" and "dreary".
There are two reasons I have not gone for the eggplant already - one is I want to paint my bedroom a silvery plum color (light though - I have dark plum and grey bedding) and at that rate half the house will be purple. The other reason is my husband, when I was picking out colors - said any color you want hon, just not purple! LOL. And then I dont' want this room to be dark. Most of the windows face the north and we only get late afternoon sun from the west.
But eggplant would solve a bunch of problems - it would look great next to the gold kitchen and the taupeish (light) tv room that is on the other side of it... and it would look great with my "stuff".
Hmn... maybe I just talked myself into it. Now to convince hubby.
That's a gorgeous color on your walls, I love it! And I like, too, that you have a few different things going on, it's not all a uniform look. It's a really sharp room. Nice job!
